The Rise of eSports

The availability and affordability of increased Internet bandwidth, video memory, processing speed has enabled Electronic sports (eSports) to become a flourishing global sensation college students are helping drive this phenomenon. This mixed-methods study focuses on feedback from 159 regarding the eSports phenomenon across both gender educational classification. Findings include their eSports-related gaming spending habits, perceptions personal academic benefits playing such as social interaction, teamwork, critical thinking skills. Included perceived risks that encompassed addiction, mental, social, emotional risks, lack physical activity, disorders associated with eSports.
